Last week, we launched our manifesto, and it’s a manifesto that has decency, tolerance and generosity at its very heart.
Our priorities, which we have set out on the front page, include: balancing the budget fairly, giving opportunity to every child, fairer taxes, quality healthcare for all and a pledge to protect the environment.
As Nick Clegg said in his manifesto launch speech: “It’s a manifesto which guarantees a stronger economy and a fairer society – with opportunity for all – no matter who you are, where you were born, what sexuality or religion you are or what colour your skin is.”
Meanwhile, the Conservatives are not being honest about the scale of the cuts they want to inflict – placing our schools and hospitals at risk.
But if Liberal Democrats get into government, we won’t let that happen.
As our manifesto details, we will protect the education budget from nursery to 19 – including early years, schools and 16-19 education. We’ll also invest the £8bn NHS bosses say they need to maintain the high quality care you expect, free when you need it.
Labour, on the other hand, want to borrow £70bn more than the Lib Dems should they get into government. They would plunge our economy back into devastation.
Only we will finish the job of balancing the books on time, in full and fairly whilst growing the economy in order to create jobs and fund the public services on which we all rely.
We won’t allow the Conservatives to cut too much and jeopardise our schools and hospitals and we won’t allow Labour to borrow too much and risk our economy again.
