We have now found out that the proposed charge for parking at a country park will be four pounds for a whole days ticket.
What has not been made so clear is that this four pound charge will be a flat charge per visit, so :-
If you want to take your children or grandchildren after school to feed the squirrels for an hour the cost is four pounds to park your car.
If you want to go for a short walk with your dog for half an hour the cost to park your car will be four pounds.
I wonder how this fits in with the 20/20 pledges that this Labour Council are constantly promoting, pledges such as ‘Healthier Lives’ and ‘Ageing Well’ not to mention the cost to the local businesses and the mayhem this will cause in parking in the local residential streets.
In our case at Eastham Country Park , cars will be pushed up Ferry Rd which will bring issues of safety and accessibility not only to local residents but also to the bus service and bin collections, the dray deliveries to the Tap and the Ferry Hotel and it may also have an unfavourable impact on our blue light services.
