Yet another collision at dangerous crossroads.
Tuesday 13th June was the latest accident at this dangerous crossroads between Heygarth Road and Bridle Road in Eastham
( I am pleased to report that no one was seriously hurt.)
It was made even more concerning that, yet again, it happened at the time that school children were being escorted across by the crossing patrol as the local secondary and primary schools finished for the day.
This is the crossroads between Heygarth Road and Bridle Road, two long straight roads where traffic constantly exceeds the speed limits. Entering Bridle road from the Bromborough end, through the traffic lights at Allport road and passing Treetops Surgery it is open playing fields to both sides giving the drivers an opportunity to pick up speed and hit the crossroads at an alarming rate. They then have to squeeze through the parked cars, oncoming traffic and the bus stops virtually opposite each other further down Bridle road which constantly results in smashed wing mirrors and damaged vehicles.

In the other direction, up Heygarth Road, once again it is a straight run past the primary school and up to the crossroads. The residents here park only on the opposite side of the street from the school giving racers a clear run.
We have been campaigning for some kind of road calming here for a long time our last attempt at some action included a petition to council which once again proved fruitless.
The answer is always the same in that the area has a good safety record for the last three years. What is it going to take before we can have some attention here? I do not wish to be pleading for some action to be taken because a driver or child has been killed or seriously injured.
